Bollywood's very own Dabangg girl reveals her love for art and confesses being an after-hours artist in a recent interview to NDTV. Transforming herself into an action star and delivering hardcore fitness stunts for her upcoming movie “Akira” was certainly not easy, on being asked about her other interests, she says “Art is a way for me to disconnect I feel, no matter how tired I am. I have made one room in my house into an art studio where I have my canvases, paints and everything. Even if I feel like a zombie, at times I land up there. Sometimes at the middle of the night I land up there. It just helps you to disconnect and it transports you somewhere else. You are not thinking of anything else when you are painting and that’s why I like it.”

Featured as the cover story in the art section on her journey in art and artlaw on 3 March 2016
Vincent Van Gogh had said of his work, "I dream of painting and then I paint my dream." Anybody can take a brush, dip it in a palette of hues and make patterns on a canvas. But what sets a true artist apart is the ability to bring people and landscapes from one's imagination or surroundings alive on paper. But more than that, it is the ability to stop the observer in his tracks, to make him think, to get him to feel what the artist feels and to find a space in his soul where the work of art keeps on living, long after it is out of his sight. Bahaar Dhawan Rohatgi would easily fit this description of a true artist. Her works, whether portraits or abstracts, are almost hypnotic. "As a feminist, I am endlessly fascinated by the female form. Conveying the strength and depth of a woman’s persona is challenging and at the same time, creatively satisfying," says 28-year-old Bahaar.

“Dreams are about being conscious beyond control. It is an experience of drenching oneself in words unspoken, living life with arms wide open. Conscious of where the script begins, but fully aware that the rest is still unwritten.“It feels great that I can finally introduce myself as an artist. My family has been instrumental in helping me pursuing my passion as it was almost impossible for me to leave my job. With time I realized that my passion for art was so overwhelming, that after a point- money, promotions- were not governing my life. Having a hybrid mind of a lawyer and artist has its own benefits.”“Lawyers are not allowed to solicit work, but for an artist, PR is everything! I often struggle with the business aspects, even things like making a website, identifying a reputed gallery that would help promote my work are the real challenges I face, as I want to really focus on creating art and not digress from the same.” he confides, “I could really do with someone handling social media for me, as well! Rampant copying is a huge problem. Only yesterday I came across an Instagram account who posted my work and is passing it off as her own work.”
